India has been the world's top remittance recipient for over a decade. The US, UAE, UK, Saudi Arabia, and Canada are the top source countries. Remittances are ~3.4% of India's GDP and exceed FDI inflows in most years — a significant current account support. Remittances dipped slightly in FY2015-16 due to Gulf oil price crash affecting Indian workers there.
