MK Stalin became CM in 2021 after DMK won 133 of 234 seats, ending a decade of AIADMK rule. He is the son of legendary DMK patriarch M. Karunanidhi. Tamil Nadu is among India's most industrialised and high-HDI states, with a strong manufacturing base. Stalin has pursued an aggressive investor attraction strategy (Global Investors Meet) and adopted a firm stance against Hindi imposition by the central government. DMK-led INDIA bloc won all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu in 2024.
